VanDOit

vandoit
  • Price ~ $48,800 – $118,800 depending on options

VanDOit is a modular and affordable camper van specifically created by adventurers of every kind so that anyone can utilize the convenient, customizable design with modular transformability.

They are a three-generation company starting in Manly, Iowa in 1947. They produce and sell camper vans fully converted for $48,800 – $118,800.

With off-grid capabilities, VanDOit has two models, both of which can be used as an adventure van/camper van, a primary-everyday vehicle, with between 2-11 passenger seating, or a business van. The modular transformability allows the van to change along with its ownerโ€™s adventure or need.

They have customers from all over the country with some amazing stories i.e. Families with babies who sold their home to live in a van, a family going on a 6-month journey in their van to find a new place to live (think of it as the bachelor meets van life), professional athletes and so many more I donโ€™t have space to write about.

Furthermore, the VanDOit passes stringent testing needed to qualify for the RVIA certification seal and is a โ€œqualified van modifierโ€ with Ford and a partner with Ford Motor Company, converting the Ford Transit. They use over 600 commercial and marine-grade manufactured parts and materials from over 150 suppliers and offer a โ€œfactory fit and finishโ€ as we use engineers, lasers, water jets, robots, and 3-D printers to manufacture their vans.

Long story short: the VanDOit is nimble, versatile, incognito, off-grid and provides everything a person needs under one roof to stay safe yet still being able to nurture the need for travel plus they have a huge customer base. It allows the user to be self-sufficient and gives one the ability to control ones environment while traveling.

Outside Van

campervans for sale
  • Price ~ $120,000 depending on options

Oregan-based Outside Vans have always impressed us with their extensive list of custom-built campervans they have for sale.

If you can think it, they can probably build it. Whether it’s a stripped back to the basics extreme sports bachelor pad for one, or a luxury 4×4 model suitable for the whole family, they are bound to have something to meet your needs.

Perhaps one of their more iconic and better-known campervans is based on Mercedes-Benz 170 3500 Sprinter. Not only was this adventure van perfectly capable of holding its own in even the most challenging terrain, but it also contained a ton of technology and luxury fittings to you comfortable.

It was originally designed for biking and camping trips but has since been adopted for a host of other purposes.

We especially appreciate the excellent battery performance and inbuilt inverter, which means you can run the air conditioner overnight without being connected to a mains power source. If that’s not your thing, you can also produce a delicious smoothie or dry your hair while watching TV or blasting some tunes over Bluetooth.

Just like Outside Van, Off Grid Adventure Vans specialize in converting vans into campervans.

The biggest differentiating factor between the two is price, while Outside Van will easily cost in excess of $100,000, Off Grid Adventure Vans tend to cost around $60,000. The owner of Off Grid Adventure Vans, Fensterheim, explains that this breaks down into roughly $30,000 for the original van and then a further $30,0000 in for materials and labor to carry out the conversion.

Despite the relatively modest price, an Off Grid Adventure Van will provide oodles of amenities and space, from generous Murphy beds, through the roomy living room and dining space, as well as a fully functional toilet and shower.
